Nifty Denim DIYs To Warm Your Soul

Where do old jeans go when they retire?

Considering how often one ends up wearing one's jeans and the fact that good denims aren't exactly dirt cheap, retiring one’s denims is a decision that most of us dread to come by.

The good news is, there is a LOT that you can do with your old and worm out pair of denims! Denim lends itself fabulous to all kinds of creative little DIY projects, so you can actually quickly repurpose your once favourite denim jacket or jeans without feeling the guilt of throwing them away!

1) The Denim Diary Jacket

Take the diary you want to cover and measure it.

Cut a rectangular piece of your old denims, (inclusive of zipper and pockets for added character); this should be large enough to cover the open wingspan of your diary, with a couple of inches to spare on either side.

Place the diary inside the cut denim piece and proceed to wrap the diary much like you would do with regular paper. Often, the pocket may have to be patched on separately if it doesn't fit perfectly.

Use some super glue to fasten the fabric to the inside covers of the diary.

Patch on some cute colourful buttons if you like.

Voila! An ultra cute and stylish denim diary to gift or just use yourself!

2) Denim Flower Corsage

Using a white pencil, draw out little flower shapes in different sizes, onto your old denims.

Cut out all the stenciled shapes and stack them up such that the largest ones are at the bottom and the smaller ones are on top.

Insert a Gold headed pin or layer on drops of superglue to hold the entire stack together.

Align all the "petals" so that the flower looks in full bloom.

Behold! A nifty little patch denim flower!

3) Room décor denim flags

Anyone who has ever travelled up to the Himalayas will be familiar with the now ever popular prayer flags that travellers love buying as souvenirs and stringing across their rooms.

Well here we tell you how to make some ultra sweet denim flag décor!

You will need the pockets of at least 4 pairs of jeans, so start collecting or asking around as to who has jeans they don’t use anymore.

Cut these pockets and sew up the edges so that they look neat.

Take a long rope / cord, and loop the tops of the denim pockets over it. Use superglue to close off the individual pocket loops and get the pockets to hang off the cord.

You can stick on little buttons or bits of lace or ribbon bows to liven up the flags and make them colorful and full.

String up your flags and enjoy!

So here were 3 cute DIY's for you to try out with your old denims at home. Keep watching this space for more great tips and tricks and funky ideas on how to repurpose your old denims so that you never have to say goodbye to them!
